First Time: Nuby products

Nuby products

I have used various Nuby products throughout my baby’s growing stages.  What I didn’t realize is that Nuby was being part of my baby’s life even before he was born.

As a first time mother, I wasn’t quite sure what products I needed for during my pregnancy or after. I did a lot of research online in order to find out what options I had.  Most of the products were not even necessary so I only purchased those that I had to have.

I remember that the first Nuby product my husband purchased for me was a Nuby breast pump. It came with breast pump, storage container, nursing pads and a convenient stand to put the breast pump in.  When it was time to use it, it worked really well and it was easy to clean up.

Once our baby was born, the second item was a Nuby Teether Tugz Toy rabbit whom we called Nibbles. Nibbles is so soft, colourful and with great surfaces for my baby to chew on.  Nibbles has travelled with my son to the States, Croatia and most recently Cyprus. Our son is currently 11 months old and I must say that Nibbles is still part of our family. We then added the IcyBite keys, which can be refrigerated and helps sooth his tender gums.

Other Nuby items we currently have for weaning are: the step 1: silicone spout beakers, No-spill Flip it, the Nibbler, the Monster Snack Keeper and the Easy Go suction bowl and spoon.  My personal experience with all Nuby products we have tried are absolutely great, good quality and colourful! Every one of them still works very well and we can even use them for a second child.  Overall, Nuby have a great variety of products to use in various stages such as newborn, teething and weaning.

Nuby has been a part of our family before my son was born and that gives me great confidence in the quality and reliability of their products. I can’t really say that about other companies.

VTech Baby First Steps Walker Review

This is the must have toy for babies who are trying/starting to walk. Even before he was able to stand up and go, he used the activity center in the front of the walker; he loved all the colors, letters, songs, and lights.

What we love about it:

The activity center is portable; you can take it with you anywhere in the house or even out and about.

It is perfect to help with your child’s walking skills.

It can be adjusted to fold down so it can safely store in any space.

It can be used for the next child.

It is so much fun watching him trying to run with it, and we shouldn’t really laugh when he goes too fast and falls over, but it is funny – definitely the must have toy for all you “You’ve been framed” fans trying to catch a funny clip of your little one!

What we don’t like about it:

The wheels don’t have a break mechanism to stop it from going when needing to stop.

It would be great if it had breaks as he sometimes loves to stand up and just lean on it while watching his Cebeebies!  Overall this is a great 2 in 1 interactive toy that helps with your child motor skills as well as language development.

First experience with cloth diapers

I never knew cloth diapers still existed, I always heard about it because my grandmother mentioned a few times. My mother used disposable diapers with my little brother and I never thought that one day I will cloth diaper my child.  My son was experiencing cow’s milk allergy, which displayed in many ways including eczema, painful blisters in his bottom and skin irritation to some fabrics such as wool.  I researched the Internet and came across a mother whose son experienced eczema and she mentioned that cloth diapers stopped her son’s irritation. Her approach was a little extreme, for me, so I only use what I thought it will work for my son. I then started to research more into it and decided to give cloth diapers a try.   I was a bit skeptical about them at first but it worked like magic, no more painful blisters on my son’s bottom!

I started my stash with organic cotton pre-folds and some covers.  It turned out to be really easy and simple; I was so pleased I decided to buy a few more cloth diapers.  We now have a few all in one diapers, along with pre-folds, covers and hybrids. But I still want to try other styles such as the all in twos and fitted diapers for night time.   Since I started cloth diapering my son, my stash has grown just a little bit more and I still have not been able to try every single cloth diaper.  Getting the husband on board was easy as well; he had no problems with changing the soiled diapers.

What most people don’t know about cloth diapers is that it can be addicting. There are so many styles, brand names and different price ranges; it can become a little overwhelming at first, trying to choose a particular style, I just want to buy and try them all!   This much I know:  I will recommend any new mom to give cloth diapers a try by using a diapering service first, to give you a taste of what it would be like and then you decide if you like to continue.  If you live in the United States, Nature's Premiere Diaper Service, offers organic hemp which is great in terms of absorbency. If you live in the UK, then Nappy Ever After offers a laundry service with soft cotton nappies.  It can be pricey to start a stash at first but the savings in the long run can be rewarding, not only for your child but for the environment.

My blog: Introduction

Hello everyone! This is my personal experience as a first time mother of one.  I loved the fact that I can say what I think and that I can give an honest opinion about various subjects, products, or situations. As it can help people make decisions to whether or not to try a particular product and see if it will work for them. Maybe help them find answers to various topics or help them try something new. Whatever the reason, I hope my blog can help first time parents like myself, in their parenting journey.

Welcome to my blog!
