Product Review: Revlon Colorstay Overtime Lipcolor

Revlon Colorstay Overtime Lipcolor

Colour: All night fuchsia

Description: 16 hours of comfortable colour. No touch-ups need - even after meals. Top coat enriched with chamomile, keeps lips comfortable and delivers the shiniest shine.

Directions for use:

Step 1: Apply lip colour evenly to clean, bear lips and wait until dry.
Step 2: Brush on top coat. Reapply as desired.

To remove: Use any oil or cream based make up remover or cleanser.

This package comes with a free Revlon colorstay moisture stain.

I first applied at 10 am as instructed. It felt thick and sticky when rubbed my lips together. I then applied the top coat. I had a hot chocolate drink around 11 am with very little transfer on the cup but the colour was still intact on my lips. I had lunch around 1 pm and that is when I noticed a bit of fading close to my inside lip area but the rest of the colour was still there. No touch ups so far. I did however applied lip balm as my lips started to feel dry.

I had a snack around 4pm and by that time when I checked in the mirror, the colour was half way gone. My lips didn't looked good. The colour was missing from half my bottom and upper lip, definitely,  not a good look.  However, I did feel my lips were dry and I only put the top coat but I did not reapply lip colour.

After dinner, I only have my lips outlined with the colour, all of the lipstick inside my lips was gone. Overall, this product fail to last the 16 hours as stated in the packaging.  I will not recommend this product for the 9 to 5 working ladies.  I will probably use it on a short night out, to have dinner with friends. Or even to out for a lunch break.

The other product included in the package was also in the colour stay family but it was a lip stain. This product is worse than the lip colour. I applied it around 9 am and by noon it was almost gone. It is a moisturised colour stay lip stain, which means your lips do not feel dry. This lip stain is not long lasting and if you want to have colour on your lips you do need to re-apply throughout the day.

Product Review: Dermatologica Super Rich Repair

Dermatologica Super Rich Repair

This is a well known, high end product.

Description: Recommended for the smart management and treatment of skin aging. Deliver immediate benefits to chronically dry, dehydrated and prematurely-aging skin with heavyweight cream.

Directions: Apply to face and neck with light, upward strokes. Wait for cream to absorb before applying additional products. Use twice daily.

My experience: This product is amazing! I have combination skin, however during winter my skin does get dry and this cream was perfect. It moisturised my skin in a way that worked with my whole face, it didn't make me shiny, it was not greasy and best of all, is fragrance free.  It comes in a pump bottle which is perfect as 1 pump will do my whole face.  I highly recommend this moisturiser.  You can find it on Amazon for £49.97 in England.

New products Reviews 2015

Seche Vite

For the past year I have been watching nail stamping and nail art tutorials. All videos have one thing in common: Top coat favourite: Seche Vite. All have raved about it and I wanted to try it. I was not disappointed, it is by far the best fast drying top coat I ever tried. It gives an amazing shine to any manicure, gives it a long lasting wear and makes your nails dry in minutes!
The cons of the product are: 1) price, 2) strong smell, (i'm used to it so I don't mind), 3) you also need to buy the Seche Vite Restore.

Does it work? Yes.

Who will I recommended to? People who want to fast drying top coat and can stand strong smells.

Creative Shop Stamper and Scraper

This is another raved about product by nail stamper aficionados. Once again, this product does not disappoint. It is big, it picks up great, love that it is semi-transparent and I can pick up white polish with it. Cons: pricey and holder can be slippery.

Does it work? YES.

Who will I recommended to? Anyone who loves nail stamping.

 Ladies Digital Running Gloves

I needed some gloves to keep my fingers warm during winter.  I saw this pair in Costco and I grabbed them. I really liked the fit, I have small hands it was a perfect fit. They felt warm and they had the finger coating for using touch screen phones.

One year later, they are still strong. Very durable gloves, comfortable, warm and convenient for using your phone out in the cold. I am not a runner, so I don't know how they will hold for exercising but it worked just fine for going out and about, supermarket, park, etc.

Do they work: Yes
Who will I recommend it to: People with small hands.

Nail Art Part 1

MOYOU LONDON STAMPING SET

Review

For the past year I've been into nail art and I have been fascinated with Moyou London. Everyone in the nail stamping community loves the plates and guess what? I am no exception!  I received this stamping set as a Christmas gift from hubby.

These set comes with 2 stamping plates, 1 scraper, 1 stamper and 3 stamping polishes with an instruction booklet. This is the perfect gift for someone who is new to nail stamping or it just starting to build up their stamping collection.

I started off with a Konad stamper, a few round plates but I wasn't getting very good results so I researched online and came across the brand Moyou London to be popular.  I really love their plates, they are edged very well, transferred perfectly and come in an unique rectangular shaped plate.

Their stamper is white and round, squishier than others I've tried. The scraper is quite small but works well and it is super cute.

Their nail stamping polishes are of high quality, just like the Konad ones.

Here are some sample manicures I've done using Moyou London stamping kit:

In conclusion, this is a great started nail stamping set, I highly recommended to anyone interested in trying out nail art stamping.

New Products Review

Sensationail Review

I was dying to try this product for a long time. My husband gave me the french manicure Sensationail for my birthday this year. It was a bit difficult to follow the steps and to use the strips for the first time. I was disappointed when it first chipped after only 3 days. I blamed it on my poor application (even thought I followed all the instructions) but when I attempted a second time around, the same thing happened.

Trying without the white plastic strips worked a lot better. I only used the pink that came in the kit and voila, chipped free nails for 7 days.  Although the box said up to 2 weeks wear, but because I am a stay home mom and do a lot of washing up and cleaning without gloves (sometimes I do use it), it didn't last the full 2 weeks.

Overall, I was pleased to see that my manicure lasted a whole week without chipping. The best part is that I could apply a regular nail polish colour on top and change the look. Even better, I managed to practice nail stamping on my Sensationails and take off whatever didn't come out right. I will recommend this product to someone who is patience, has at least an hour to do their nails and who will dedicate the time for the take off process which can take sometime.

More products coming up soon!

May/June Favorite random products

My favorite nail product: Nailene Calcium Gel Tip Kit

I absolutely love this product.  The product is described as odorless advance nail strengthening system; it comes with 2 sets of style tips: French or Naturals.

I used the French style tips for my birthday in June and they looked amazing, it was so easy to apply and lasted quite a long time considering my 24/7 tear and wear as a mom. I have a very sensitive sense of smell, the product is not completely odorless but it doesn’t bother me at all.  I have also been using it to repair any broken nails and it last until I am ready to fix it. I will highly recommend this product to anyone, it is easy to apply, fast drying and easy removal as long as you follow their instructions.

Cloth diapers: Pop ins

I recently got the Close parent: Pop in new generation little box + bamboo. These are reusable nappies that come in a box of 5 in the bright palette colors.   I have been using them for a few weeks now and I really like them. When I first started cloth diapering my son, I never heard of them, the popular ones were the Tots bots but in all honesty, I prefer the Pop ins.

The absorbency is great with the bamboo fabric, a natural hypoallergenic material.  The rise is really high which means that it now fits my toddler. It will get really small and the largest setting truly will fit until potty training.  The little box comes with a night time booster that keeps my baby dry for 10 hours! The shell is fast drying but the bamboo insert does take quite a bit longer, this heat wave helps a lot.

The main features of the nappy are:

  • ·         Waterproof shell allows the baby’s bottom breathe

  • ·         Double gusset to protect against leaky legs

  • ·         Absorbent panel draws and holds more wetness in the middle of the nappy

  • ·         Soft waistband for a secure & comfortable fit

  • ·         Simple aplix fastening for faster change time

  • ·         Removable soaker and booster pop in or out for different absorbency and fast drying

In overall, I believe the pop ins are a good quality nappy, so far I had no leaks day or night, fast drying and enough room for my toddler to grow into.

Disposable nappy liners: Boots Brand

I am pleasantly surprised by these liners. They are strong and soft. They don’t disintegrate like other liners do.  It comes in a handy plastic packing like disposable wipes and it is easy to pull them out. My only complaint will be that they are too long.
